BLOGTOUR: Sing Me Forgotten

Hi! Welcome to my blog tour post. I really loved the book! It's a spectacular story inspired by Phantom of Opera but make it gender-swapped because, in this book, we have a powerful heroine named Isda whose ability is considered monstrous in the eyes of the world. Thank you to the Turn The Page Tour Team and Netgalley for this electronic advanced reader copy of Sing Me Forgotten in return for an honest review. I enjoyed it so much.

SYNOPSIS:

Isda does not exist. At least not beyond the opulent walls of the opera house.

Cast into a well at birth for being one of the magical few who can manipulate memories when people sing, she was saved by Cyril, the opera house’s owner. Since that day, he has given her sanctuary from the murderous world outside. All he asks in return is that she use her power to keep ticket sales high—and that she stay out of sight. For if anyone discovers she survived, Isda and Cyril would pay with their lives.

But Isda breaks Cyril’s cardinal rule when she meets Emeric Rodin, a charming boy who throws her quiet, solitary life out of balance. His voice is unlike any she’s ever heard, but the real shock comes when she finds in his memories hints of a way to finally break free of her gilded prison.

Haunted by this possibility, Isda spends more and more time with Emeric, searching for answers in his music and his past. But the price of freedom is steeper than Isda could ever know. For even as she struggles with her growing feelings for Emeric, she learns that in order to take charge of her own destiny, she must become the monster the world tried to drown in the first place.

MY REVIEW - ⭐⭐⭐⭐

This book has a special place in my heart, I just couldn't gush about lucky am I to be able to read this beautiful retelling of the Phantom of the Opera. Sing Me Forgotten brings us parts of the original but still brews in its own way. The heroine, Isda, she possesses a monstrous ability in which she's able to see through people memories when they're singing and not only that, manipulating the memories is also one of her ability. The niche part is that she must be always hiding in the shadows and Cyril, the owner of the Opera keeps her under his thumb. Giving that she's supposed to die but Cyril rescued her, Isda has no choice but to abide by her saviour's words. Things turn drastically when a newcomer who has an enchanting voice, Emeric, comes knocking on her isolated world. Their chemistry is a slow burn one but it's done so beautifully and emotionally. The author has her own way of writing the story, it's so lush, magical and imaginative that sometimes root me to stay in fantasy but at the same time amalgamating the story with qualities of humanity. Overall, it's really a compelling read and if you like something dauntingly beautiful, you might want to try this out.
